“Hello, my name is An, and I am from Japan. I am still undecided about my major and am most excited about …”

Amidst all of the introductions and ice breaker activities during orientation and New Student Week, I realized that I haven’t properly introduced myself to all of you amazing people. I guess I should write an introduction on this week’s blog, but since I don’t feel like going back to the rush and confusion of the first week, I will introduce all of you to the five things that happened during week 1 and week 2 that came to mind while procrastinating doing my history assignment.

1. I realized how isolated I’ve become from the world when my mother told me she got an iPhone8 and that was the moment I first heard about Apple’s new release.

2. My classmate and I bought a $15 plague mask costume for our history presentation on the plague.

3. I received a lovely sunflower in my mailbox from my roommate! (Friday Flowers, a beautiful Carleton Tradition)

4. I slept for 12 hours straight on Saturday of the first week.

5. I got lost again! (The Weitz Center for Creativity is a huge maze, but a really cool place for those people who enjoy art and music.)

Week 2 is almost over and another 12 hour weekend nap awaits!

An is a freshman from Japan who is thankful that Minneapolis has a direct flight from Tokyo. She loves animals, both stuffed and alive, and one of the hardest parts of packing for college for her was choosing which plushie to bring to Carleton or, sadly, leave at home. She is currently undecided about her major and is excited to explore new subjects.
