Hello!
Even though about a month and a half has passed since I first arrived at Carleton, I feel like I am learning new things every day. Today, I found out that the dining hall has a hot chocolate and cappuccino machine. Mind Blowing! It was right next to the coffee machine I always use but somehow I never noticed its existence.
Instead of making a list (or multiple lists), I decided to look for inspirations and do something new for my blog. This blog was inspired by my chemistry professor who always gives us a recap of the previous class before getting into new materials. Since it’s Friday, I decided to write down a recap of the things that happened this week before entering week 6.
Monday: It was my friend’s birthday! We went to Hogan Brothers, and I ate a hoagie for the first time. The hoagie was delicious, but their ice cream will always be my favorite. Nothing beats eating ice cream in a warm restaurant when it’s around 5℃ outside. (I gave up trying to adjust to using Fahrenheit.)
Tuesday: Hall Dinner! There was a dinner gathering for the students that live in one of the dorms called Burton. The theme was a skype interview so a lot of people dressed up wearing neckties and blouses with sweatpants. Unfortunately, I had PE class right after the dinner, so I wore gym clothes, which I would like to avoid for future skype interviews.
Wednesday: The roughest day of the week. Wednesday is my hardest day because I have three classes and a four hour lab class. I was exhausted, but I managed to finish the lab experiment three minutes before the class ended. After the lab, my lab partner and I went straight to the dining hall and treated ourselves with pizza and banana cream pie.
Thursday: Usually, Thursday is my day to relax, but this Thursday was the complete opposite. I began my day by dashing to class because I woke up 15 minutes before class. Then, I spent half the day doing homework because I fell into a deep sleep after dinner on Wednesday and couldn’t get any work done. Then, I had PE class and dance practice for the cultural showcase on Saturday. (The Japanese club is going to do a dance performance called Yocchore!) Then, I had to continue doing homework, because I spent most of the time during the day procrastinating.
Friday: Today!
I know this blog kind of looks like a list, but trust me, it’s not.
Please enjoy and drool over my picture of caramel apple and Carmen the caramel apple, a product of my Thursday procrastination.
An is a freshman from Japan who is thankful that Minneapolis has a direct flight from Tokyo. She loves animals, both stuffed and alive, and one of the hardest parts of packing for college for her was choosing which plushie to bring to Carleton or, sadly, leave at home. She is currently undecided about her major and is excited to explore new subjects.
