Before I get too far into the new term, I wanted to give an update on the end of last term and my spring break. I finished my finals on Wednesday evening (two weeks ago) and immediately began the long drive to Georgia with three of my friends on GoP (Carleton’s DIII men’s ultimate team). 23 hours later, we arrived in Tybee Island, Georgia, where we were staying for one week with Eclipse, Carleton’s DIII women’s ultimate team. The weather, in stark contrast to the current weather in Northfield, stayed warm the whole time we were there, which made for a wonderful spring break.

That weekend, we drove to Statesboro, Georgia to participate in our final regular season tournament, College Southerns. Over the course of the weekend we won five games and lost two, finishing in third place! It was a great way to close our season as we move into Sectionals, which will take place third weekend at Carleton. We spent the next several days relaxing at the beach on Tybee Island and bonding as a team.

At the end of our time in Georgia, we completed our cross-country road trip back to Carleton, making stops in Nashville and Milwaukee. About 20 of us rented an AirBnB for two nights in Nashville, where we hung out, relaxed, and ate great barbecue. Four of us then continued to my house in Milwaukee, where we spent a night before continuing to Carleton.

Overall, it was a great way to take a break between two tough terms at Carleton. I feel much more relaxed and ready to take on Spring term!

Jacob is a junior physics major interested in environmental science, which he is currently studying in Costa Rica (along with Spanish, of course). At Carleton, Jacob enjoys going on outings with CANOE, the outdoors club, and playing ultimate frisbee with the Gods of Plastic, Carleton’s Division III men’s ultimate team.
