Accepted Student Days

April 12-13 or April 19-20

Congratulations on your acceptance to Carleton College!

Accepted Student Days are designed to help you experience life as a Carl.  You'll choose your own schedule once you arrive on campus: we encourage you to sit in on a class or two, chat with our students and profs, and explore what our great small town has to offer.  You'll choose your classes and most activities once you arrive on campus, but you must register in advance of your arrival for the Welcome Dinner, overnight stay with student hosts, and the airport shuttle service.  It's only necessary to attend one of the dates listed because the programming for both is identical; if you can't make either one, you can arrange a visit when it's convenient for you.

Ready to register? We can't wait to see you April 12-13 or April 19-20 (Online registration closes 1 week prior to the event).

Once on campus, check-in begins Thursday at 1:00pm in Scoville Hall (Admissions).  See you soon!

Some details to help you prepare for your trip to campus:

Please note that your family is welcome at Accepted Student Days. There are many activities planned for students and their families but there is also ample opportunity to explore campus and Northfield; here are some of our recommendations.

Getting Here

Many students will fly into MSP, a major international airport just under an hour from campus.  You (and your family) can sign up for one of our shuttles to and from Terminal 1 (the Lindbergh Terminal) at MSP.  The shuttle costs $10 in cash per rider, each way. Shuttle fees will be collected when you check-in.
If you are arriving at Terminal 2, we will have staff available to direct you to the free Light Rail Transit (LRT) service between Terminal 1 and 2.

Shuttles depart from the airport on the following times, arriving at Carleton approximately one hour later:

  • ASD Thursdays – 11:45 p.m., 12:45 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.
    • When determining which shuttle to register for, please allow 45 minutes between shuttle time and arrival time at Terminal 1 (60 minutes if arriving at Terminal 2).

Shuttles depart from Carleton on the following times, arriving at the airport approximately one hour later:

  • ASD Fridays – 2:20 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4:40 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
(please allow 3 hours between bus departure time and flight time)

Welcome Dinner

We're delighted to welcome you and your family for dinner with campus community members. You can also spend Thursday night in the residence halls with a Carleton student host. Please register in advance for either option.

Overnight Stay

An overnight with a current Carl is perhaps the most vital part of Accepted Student Days. Your assigned host will be able to show you the ropes and you’ll get a glimpse at the life of a Carl.  Host matching will take place following dinner on Thursday.  We suggest bringing a sleeping bag, towel, change of clothes, toiletries, and a sense of adventure!  Families are invited to investigate options at local hotels.

All set?

Once you have submitted your registration, you will receive an automatic e-mail summary of your request. After your request has been reviewed and processed, you will receive a second e-mail confirmation with further information. Please call the Admissions Office at 1-800-995-CARL (2275) if you need to make any changes to your registration or have any questions. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Register online for Accepted Student Days for April 12-13 or April 19-20.
