A four-year starter and the leading tackler in the history of Carleton football, Scott Klein might be the best defensive player to don the maize and blue of the Knights. A three-time All-MIAC linebacker, he collected 359 career tackles, a school record. He graduated with the record for most tackles for losses (37.0) and ranked third when he left Carleton with 17 career sacks. He is one of only three players in Carleton history to record 20 or more tackles in a single game, as he registered 22 stops in a 1995 game at St. John’s University. Klein shared the program’s Zell Award his sophomore season and the Hunt Trophy his junior year. He earned the Lippert Award his senior year and team most valuable player award his junior and senior season. He was twice named MIAC player of the week during his career. Klein currently serves as the program director for a non-profit residential environmental education school on the central coast of California. He is married to Ulli, and the couple had their first child this past March, a daughter named Simone India.
