California Art of the Impressionist Period

Saturday, August 18, 2007

Susan Palmer Vescera ’67 and Larry Vescera are arranging a docent led tour of the Irvine Museum followed by lunch at their home on August 18. Meet at the museum at 10:45 a.m. for an 11 a.m. tour. This will be followed by lunch and an optional walk by Newport Bay. The cost will be $15 per person.

The Irvine Museum is dedicated to the preservation and display of California art of the Impressionist Period (1890-1930). It is known for its broad collection of plein air paintings. This summer there will also be a special exhibit, "Passionate Visions: Paintings by Botke, DeRome, Rider, and Wendt". These artists painted in California and include paintings of birds, the California coastline, and the missions. For more information, see http://www.irvinemuseum.org.

The Vesceras live right on the Upper Newport Bay Ecological Preserve. After lunch, those who would like to walk along the bay are welcome to stay.

To RSVP or if you have questions: Margie Templeton '63. The day of the tour, reach Margie by cell phone.

Directions: The museum is located on the ground level of the Tower 17 building at 18881 Von Karman Avenue in Irvine. Parking is validated. See their web site for detailed instructions. The Vesceras live at 2026 Avenida Chico in Newport Beach. We will supply maps from the museum to their house.
