Another Great Depression? What's Next for the U.S. and World Economy?

Downtown Luncheon with Prof. Michael Hemesath and Jim Ulland '64

Investment professional Jim Ulland ’64 and Carleton economics professor Michael Hemesath will discuss the complexities of the world's economic situation. Prof. Hemeseth will consider the situation in historical context by examining to what extent our current situation parallels the Great Depression. Jim will speak on "What Would Warren Do?" with a view toward what 2009 might bring and how individuals and institutions might best prepare for these changes. Questions and discussion will follow their presentation. Prof. Hemesath is chair of the economics department and has been teaching at Carleton since 1989 with an emphasis on international economics and health care issues. Jim is the president of Ulland Investment Advisors and chair of the Minnesota Orchestra Investment Committee.
