Is there more to achievement than academics? What's 'achievement', anyway? Are teacher unions the problem, or not? Why shouldn't teachers just do what they're told? What is the achievement gap? What if technology bypasses 'school'? Might it? And: How about we find a way to kill Adolescence?

Ted Kolderie '52 has worked on system questions and with legislative policy in different areas of public life. He is most recognized for his work on K-12 education policy and innovation, which he has focused on since the early 1980s. His work on the design and passage of the nation's first charter school law in Minnesota in 1991, and on the design and improvement of charter legislation in other states was recognized by the Education Commission of the States last July. He is the author of “Creating the Capacity for Change: How and Why Governors and Legislatures are Opening a New-Schools Sector in Public Education” (Education Week Press, 2005).  Ted was previously executive director of the Citizens League, a reporter and editorial writer for the Minneapolis Star and Tribune, and a senior fellow at the University of Minnesota’s Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
