Carleton Professor Scott Carpenter P'11
Theory of Remainders -- Lecture and Reading

Scott Carpenter P'11, Carleton Professor of French, will introduce his new novel, Theory of Remainders -- an engrossing story dealing with the French-American encounter. The fictional account of an American psychiatrist who travels to France for answers about his own traumatic past, Theory of Remainders has been acclaimed for its representation of French culture and history, as well as for the sense of place it conveys in the depictions of Normandy. (The session is co-sponsored by the Alliance Française.) Carleton Alumni are invited to stay and chat afterwards.

When: Saturday, November 16, 6 - 7 p.m.

Where: The Book Cellar, 4736 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago

"This not only should be on your must-read list, it should be on your read it again and again one. It is poetry, suspense, life-changing reader revelation. Nothing I have read in the last three or four years even comes close." -- John Lehman, Rosebud Reviews.
