Join Andrew Kleinhesselink ’05 for our third annual Carleton Alumni volunteer workday in the beautiful Presidio of San Francisco.  Winter is the best time for planting native plants in our restoration sites in the park, and this year we have begun replanting one of the few remaining natural springs in San Francisco, El Polin Springs.  We need your help to restore this nationally significant historic landscape and unique natural habitat in the City.  It was recently written up in the SF Chronicle http://tinyurl.com/9kymbh.

This is a great way for alumni young and old, near and far, to reconnect with the Carleton community. 

Families and children are welcome to attend.  Event will take place rain or shine, bring clothes and shoes you can work in and get dirty.  We provide gloves, tools, and we'll be having a nice mid-morning coffee break as well.  Please RSVP to akleinhesselink@presidiotrust.gov.

From Downtown SF:  Take Geary to Arguello Blvd. Turn right and go Northbound into the Presidio.  Bear right at the top of the hill at the historic Arguello Gates, and continue on Arguello past the Golf Course.  The Inspiration Point Overlook will be on the right. 

From the East Bay:  Take Highway 80 West, across the Bay Bridge to San Francisco.  As you near the San Francisco shoreline, stay in right lanes.  Take the Ninth Street exit. Turn left onto Harrison St. and then immediately turn right onto Ninth Street, which soon becomes Hayes St. Then turn right on Van Ness Ave. Take this until you turn left on Geary Blvd.  Continue with directions from Downtown SF.

From Marin: Take 101 South across the Golden Gate Bridge to San Francisco. Pay the toll from the right-most toll booth and immediately exit onto Merchant Road.  Turn right on Lincoln.  Turn sharp left on Kobbe.  Turn right on Washington, and stay on this for 1.5 miles. At the end of Washington, turn slight right onto Arguello.  Inspiration Point Overlook will be on the left. 

From the Peninsula:  Take 280 North to 19th Ave/ CA-1.  Follow for 5 miles to California Street, and turn right.  Turn left on Arguello, and follow this uphill into the Presidio.  Bear right at the top of the hill at the historic Arguello Gates, and continue on Arguello past the Golf Course.  The Inspiration Point Overlook will be on the right. 

Muni: Take the 1-California, 2-Clement, 4-Sutter, or 33-Stanyan to the corner of Arguello and California.  Walk up the hill on Arguello, and enter the Presidio. Turn right past the gate, and continue on the path along the edge of Arguello, until you reach the Inspiration Point Overlook and parking lot.
