5 p.m.—Dinner at the Greenleaf Vietnamese Restaurant
6:30 p.m.—Lecture

Wing Luke Museum
719 S. King St., Seattle, WA 98104-3035

Please join Fred Hagstrom, Rae Schupack Nathan Professor of Art, for a discussion of his artist's book, Deeply Honored, and a story that links Carleton to an important historical period and a remarkable family.  On February 19, 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, which required 120,000 Japanese and Japanese Americans to be imprisoned in internment camps. Carleton participated in the student relocation project, which allowed Japanese American students to leave internment camps and continue their educations.  Deeply Honored tells the story of Frank Shigemura, the first student to come to Carleton under that program, and his family.  Some of the art pieces from Deeply Honored will be on display during the reading.

Before the free public lecture, please join Professor Hagstrom at Greenleaf Vietnamese Restaurant, just a quick walk around the block, where you may purchase dinner.

Bus and parking:  The Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience is on the free bus line to and from downtown Seattle.
