Come hear the world-renowned violist and Carleton alumnus, James Dunham '72, play a riveting recital at the Shepherd School of Music - Rice University, Duncan Recital Hall. As described by Professor Dunham he will be playing:

  • Hindemith op. 11 no. 4 (1919) - A quasi-impressionistic opening, dramatic and inventive variations, with a powerful close.
  • Shostakovich Sonata (1975) - Shostakovich's last work. A stunning and moving piece - one of his greatest.
  • Macaulay C. D. D. in memoriam (2013) - Written in memory of Charlotte Dodds Dunham '44, a thoughtful, evocative piece reflecting Charlotte's personality as perceived by the composer.
  • Brahms Sonata in f minor, op. 120 no. 1 (1894) - simply great!

A reception at the Rice University Shepherd School with James Dunham will follow the recital.
