Seattle Carleton Club Earth Day Habitat

Restoration Event

Saturday, April 21, 2007, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Join the Earth Day efforts to restore estuarine habitat by volunteering with the Duwamish Alive habitat restoration event! Hundreds of volunteers will roll up their sleeves to work on 9 simultaneous habitat restoration projects along the Duwamish River. Up to 20 Carleton volunteers will join a project coordinated by Polly Hicks of NOAA's Restoration Center (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) at the Cecil Moses/North Winds Weir Site. More information on Duwamish Alive is available at www.pugetsound.org. Habitat restoration activities will include removing blackberries and invasive species, mulching, and other activities. There may be an opportunity to do some spring planting, as well as to return to the site in the fall for planting native species.

To sign up, please contact Sharon Pitteri ‘01 by Monday, April 16th. She will reply to you with further information and directions to the worksite. Hurry, space is limited to 20 volunteers.
