"A Day In The Vineyards" at Pipestone Vineyards

Sunday, October 7, 2007—10 a.m.

Jeff and Florence will repeat one of our favorite Carleton events at their winery, Pipestone Vineyards. Come for a weekend or a day in Paso Robles that includes a wine tasting lunch. Jeff Pipes '83 and Florence Wong '84 founded the Pipestone Vineyard in 1997. Jeff was formerly a lawyer and Florence worked in the garment industry. They decided to follow their dream by planting and developing the Pipestone Vineyard. They have done all of the work themselves except for assistance during the harvest. Arrive at 10 a.m. Jeff will lead a discussion on different grapes. There will be different varieties for tasting, and you will see why they are so different when they were made into wine. There will be at least three red Rhone grapes and maybe some red Bordeaux grapes for tasting depending on availability. The adventurous can even do a grape stomping and can make a "Purple Foot Print" T-shirt to take home. This will be followed by a casual harvest lunch. The luncheon will be $55 per person (prepaid) and the tee-shirt is $15 (purchased at the winery). There will be a 5% discount on wine purchases of 6 bottles or more.

Paso Robles and Cambria are great places for a weekend getaway. Let us know if you plan to spend the weekend, and we can suggest lodging. Reservations should be made soon.
