Metro Art Tour

Saturday, September 26, 2009

The Los Angeles Metro system dedicated a percentage of its development funds to public art.  On September 26, we will offer a tour of the Los Angeles Metro art on the Red Line.  The tour will be led by a docent who will discuss the artworks, the artists, and the communities.  We will start at the Hollywood and Highland station and visit four or five stations before finishing the tour at Union Station.  We will receive a free all-day pass which will allow each person to return to their car in Hollywood or continue to explore the metro system.

Meet at the Hollywood and Highland station at 1:15 p.m. at the street level entrance near the corner of Hollywood and Highland.  Parking is available at the Hollywood/Highland shopping complex.  The tour will last 2 to 2.5 hours.  It will be about 90% walking with escalators or elevators in all stations.  Children at or above 5th grade level may participate in the tours.  There are no bathrooms on the stops along the way, but there is a bathroom at the Hollywood/Highland station.

The tours are offered by the LA County MTA and include free day passes to the trains and busses.  Please contribute $2-$5 for a docent gratuity.

RSVP to Margie Templeton '63.  Please be sure to include your name(s), address, and phone number.
