Cross Country Skiing at Snoqualmie Pass

Saturday, January 21, 2012 (This event is rescheduled for February 18th!)
8:45 a.m.—1:30 p.m.
(three hours of skiing)

Cabin Creek Sno-Park

Shake off the mid-winter blues by joining Carleton alums, parents, and friends for a day of cross country skiing at the Cabin Creek Sno-Park just past Snoqualmie Pass.  This trail system has something for everyone, with flat mellow trails for beginners and children and steep, challenging terrain for experts.  For anyone interested in some informal instruction, experienced skiers will be on hand to offer advice.   Please bring your skis (either your own or rented skis), appropriate winter clothing, a lunch, and water.

A $20 one-day Sno-Park pass will be required for each car (this can be purchased on the way).  Folks without skis can rent them at REI in Seattle for approximately $30 for a three-day rental.

Please meet our group at 8:45 a.m. at the 65th St. Park and Ride (6601 8th Ave. NE, Seattle, WA).  We'll figure out a carpooling plan and then leave promptly at 9 a.m., taking I-90 to exit 63 where the parking is located for the Cabin Creek trails. Some cars will likely need to stop to get parking passes at exit 31 at the Mt. Si Chevron (745 Southwest Mount Si Boulevard North Bend, WA).  We will meet in the parking area off exit 63 at 10:30 a.m.  The event (not counting travel time to and from the Cabin Creek Sno-Park) will last approximately three hours, including a break for lunch.  Folks who would like to ski for less time can organize a car to leave earlier.  The Sno-Park doesn't have facilities for warming up or eating inside, so dress appropriately.  There are portable toilets in the parking area.  Additional information about the Cabin Creek Sno-Park is available here: http://www.parks.wa.gov/winter/trails/?TrailType=nonmotorized&Region=3&Park=11.
