Join Patti Hague '73 and her daughter Elizabeth Merrill '08 as they share stories about their personal experiences and challenges as a parent and child of different identities and how the concepts of race, identity and discrimination have touched their lives.
Patti has embarked on a lifelong and rewarding journey to learn and understand her own white privilege and how racial identity plays out in our culture. Her daughter Elizabeth was adopted from India and struggled with her identity as a person of color growing up in an affluent, predominantly white neighborhood in Minneapolis. Elizabeth now works professionally in the field of diversity, engaging in strategic planning around equity and inclusion.
Join us as Elizabeth and Patti share their stories to stimulate reflection and dialog around race and identity, as well as a brief Q&A centered on providing strategies and resources to build awareness and understanding within ourselves and communities.
Cost: This event is free!
