Catholic Women's Church Vocations

Wednesday, May 14, 7 p.m.

Tenley-Friendship Library,
4450 Wisconsin Ave., NW

(across from the Tenley Metro Station)

Join Carleton alumni, parents and friends for a lecture by Carleton Professor of Religion Anne Patrick. Professor Patrick will speak about her new book, CONSCIENCE AND CALLING: Ethical Reflections on Catholic Women's Church Vocations, which discusses the increasing role women are playing in the Catholic Church and their push for full sacramental equality.

Professor Patrick's presentation will focus on Conscience and Calling, and she will also bring things up-to-date for the audience by offering a new interpretation of what Pope Francis is doing when he says the “door is closed” on women’s ordination. Copies of Conscience and Calling (Bloomsbury 2013) as well as Patrick’s Women, Conscience, and the Creative Process (Paulist 2011 )will be for sale that evening, and after the talk and discussion she will be available to sign books.

For those interested, afterwards we will move to the nearby Whole Foods Cafe for an informal gathering over coffee and tea.

If you attend the lecture only, there is no cost. If you join us afterwards at the Whole Foods Cafe you should bring money for any food or drink you would like to purchase.

RSVPs are appreciated to Kevin Draper ’10
