Parallax Art Fair with Special Preview Evening

It is with great pleasure that the Carleton London Alumni Club announce the first event of 2012:  the Parallax Art Fair, hosted by Paul Taylor '00 and Derek Wallace '92.  Details and a personal invitation from Paul follow are below.  I also want to request that you RSVP with Derek Wallace (in addition to the RSVP instructions below) and state which date you would like to attend so that I can let Paul know.  The options are below, but the official Alumni Event will be on 15th February from 19:00-21:00 given the nature of the special preview as highlighted below.

Also, if anyone has space to let Paul stay with them while in town, please contact me.  As of now, I have extended the invite for Paul to stay with me for 3 of the 6 nights that he is in town.

Any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Invitation from Paul

Dear fellow Carleton Alumni,

My name is Paul Taylor '00 and I will be participating in the Parallax Art Fair in London, from February 15-18.  I would be honored if you could attend.  There is a special preview event on the evening of Wednesday the 15th, from 7-9 p.m. at the event's venue, Chelsea Old Town Hall on King's Road, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.  Please see the attached postcard for details and RSVP (please RSVP to privateviews@barlowfinedrawings.com if you can make it Wednesday night in order to be added to the guest list).  Regular hours for the fair are Thursday through Saturday, 10 AM to 6 PM, and admission is free.

The Parallax Art Fair is the creation of curator and art historian Dr. Chris Barlow, and is fairly unique in that it provides participants with a direct way to interact with the public, create contacts, and makes sales with no gallery commission.  Participants in the fair represent over 30 countries world-wide, and I'm excited to see an incredibly diverse range of work.  For more details on the fair and for a list of exhibitors, please visit http://barlowfinedrawings.com/parallaxaf.html

And now, for a little about me:  I grew up in Northfield, MN, and so had ample time to become familiar with Carleton and its environs.  At Carleton, I majored in Studio Art.  Upon graduating, I moved to Minneapolis, and spent about a decade there before attending graduate school at the University of California, Davis, where I received my MFA in visual art this past June.  I currently live in San Francisco, CA.  My work consists of site-specific installations  that explore those bits of our infrastructure we take for granted.  At P(AF) I will be showing photographic documentation of some of the work I completed during graduate school.  Please visit my website to get a feel for what I do:  http://www.disruptedstructure.com

Please feel free to email me for more information and I hope to see you in February!

Best Regards,

Paul Taylor '00
