"Facilities and Grounds"
New Work by Professor David Lefkowitz '85

Saturday, October 22, 2011, 2 p.m.

Carrie Secrist Gallery
835 W. Washington
Chicago

Come join us for the opening of "Facilities and Grounds" at the Carrie Secrist Gallery.  "Facilities and Grounds" features new work by our very own Professor David Lefkowitz '85.  This exhibit reflects recent forays to the scrap heaps of consumer culture to cull materials that the artist transforms into ad-hoc proposals for re-envisioning the built environment.  The show will include large watercolors of images of urban infrastructure comprised of cardboard boxes painted on flattened repurposed cardboard boxes, images of architectural interiors painted with joint compound on sheetrock scraps, and paintings of maps made in part with “mistinted’ paint abandoned at hardware stores.

As an added bonus, Lefkowitz will also be presenting the latest iteration of "Pictures of Common Detritus," a series of meticulously painted insignificances, in the Project Room.

This event will consist of a private preview tour with Professor Lefkowitz followed by a reception with refreshments.
