J Ryan Stradal  The Lager Queen of Minnesota  Julia Scatliff O'Grady '85

Please join a live alumni event via Zoom with author and Minnesotan J. Ryan Stradal in an interview about his book The Lager Queen of Minnesota with Julia Scatliff O'Grady '85 P'23. This special event, originally coordinated as part of the Class of '85's virtual reunion, is available to all Carleton alumni. Since gathering on campus for reunion is not possible this year, we selected this book in part for its setting; the state where we shared our college experience.

Receiving starred reviews from Kirkus, Booklist, and BookPage, The Lager Queen of Minnesota became a national bestseller its first week of release, and was named one of the best books of the year by NPR, USA Today, Booklist, Paste, and the Texas Library Association, among other places.

Julia Scatliff O'Grady '85 P'23 is Assistant Professor and Chair of Communications Studies at St. Andrews University (Laurinburg, NC). She is the author of Good Busy: Productivity, Procrastination, and the Endless Pursuit of Balance. Her daughter Frances '23 attends Carleton.

We encourage you to order your copy of The Lager Queen of Minnesota from Northfield's independent Content Bookstore, founded, owned and operated by Jessica Peterson White '98. Content offers a 10% discount on the hardback (available immediately) or the paperback (available starting June 23).

Cost to attend the book discussion: None.

Registrations are appreciated by Thursday, July 30, if you plan to participate in this Zoom meeting. Additional information about participating in this online Zoom meeting will be emailed to registrants.
