Presentation by Carleton Professor Lauren Soth

and a visit to the Portland Art Museum

Sunday, August 26, 2007, 1:30 p.m.

Professor Lauren Soth will highlight some of Rembrandt’s works in his talk. Following his lecture, we will visit the Portland Art Museum, including the exhibition “Rembrandt and the Golden Age of Dutch Art.”

Professor Soth earned his Ph.D. from New York University and taught art history at Carleton 1964-2004. In his 40 years at Carleton, Professor Soth taught 40 different courses including a seminar on Rembrandt. He has published several articles on van Gogh. His lectures receive rave reviews from Carls around the country and even a few in Northfield.

Cost: $15 per person to cover museum admission and room rental

Details: The lecture starts at 1:30 pm at Portland State University, in the Smith Memorial Student Union, Rm. 294. Smith Memorial Student Union is located at the corner of Montgomery Street and Park Avenue—for a map of campus visit www.pdu.edu/map.html. Following the lecture we will visit the museum, approx. 3-5 p.m.
