June 11 - Barb (Windschill) Sommer '68 -- Hard Work and a Good Deal

Barb is an oral historian who literally wrote the book (or several books) on doing oral histories. She will discuss one of her most recent books, “Hard Work and a Good Deal: The Civilian Conservation Corps in Minnesota.”  She based this book, in part, on nearly 100 interviews of some of the 77,000 Minnesotans who served during the Great Depression as CCC enrollees helping to preserve Minnesota’s natural resources. This book has just been nominated for a Minnesota Book Award.
