Carleton Professor of French Scott Carpenter P'11 will speak about his two recent works of fiction: "This Jealous Earth: Stories" (an excerpt of which appeared in the summer Voice), and his novel, "Theory of Remainders," set in France. In addition to reading selected passages, Carpenter will focus on ways of representing trauma and loss in narrative, especially in the context of the French-American encounter.
