A Carleton Cultural Journey in Downtown Atlanta

Newly-opened in June, the Center for Civil and Human Rights allows audiences to take self-guided interactive tours. Join fellow Carleton alumni, parents, and current and incoming students as we explore the American civil rights movement and international human rights crusades. We'll spend about 90 minutes engaging in and absorbing the sights and sounds of those courageous pioneers who decided to speak up and act instead of letting injustice continue.

We’ll meet at the front entrance—look for the small Carleton sign—at 11 a.m. and then attendees will tour the exhibits at your own pace. After we're done with the exhibits (about 12:30 p.m.), we’ll gather again by the entrance/exit to discuss where we'd like to have lunch to discuss all that we've seen and get to know each other and/or catch up. There are several options within walking distance or using the free Atlanta Streetcar including the food court at CNN Center, Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria, Sweet Auburn Seafood (via streetcar), Mangos Café (Caribbean food via streetcar) or Ted's Montana Grill.

Directions

Southbound via I-75/85: Exit 249C Williams Street. Turn right onto Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd.

Northbound via I-75/85: Exit 249D Spring St./W. Peachtree St. Turn right onto Spring St. ramp toward

Centennial Olympic Park Dr. Bear right onto Centennial Olympic Park Dr. Take immediate left at traffic light onto Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. Parking is available at the World of Coca-Cola or Georgia Aquarium garages on the left at the second traffic light.

Eastbound or Westbound via I-20:  Exit I-75/85 North and follow Northbound via I-75/85 route. 

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION 
MARTA stop W1: Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center. 
MARTA stop N2: Civic Center. 
(It is approximately a 10-minute walk from either station.)
