Next Meeting:  Friday, June 4, 7:30 a.m.

Place:  Panera on Sherman Street in Evanston

Greetings Carleton Business Book Club,

Last Friday's book was Flip: How to Turn Everything You Know on Its Head -- and Succeed Beyond Your Wildest Imaginings by Peter Sheahan.  We were missing a few people last week, yet we had a lively discussion.  The primary message of the book was planning to stay ahead of the curve with respect to the trends and themes of your industry.  While this concept is simple enough to grasp, the practicality of staying ahead of the curve provided the substance for an informative and enlightening discussion.

The book selected for the June book club meeting is one that Adam has been excited to read for quite some time and will likely complement Flip.  June's selection is A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future by Daniel H. Pink.  Pink, who in addition to being an author is a former chief speech writer for former Vice-President Al Gore, argues that business and everyday life will soon be dominated by right-brain thinkers. He identifies the roots and implications of transitioning from a left-brain dominated society into something entirely different.

We will be discussing A Whole New Mind on:

Date: Friday, June 4th
Time: 7:30 a.m.
Place: Panera on Sherman Street in Evanston

This book will likely be of value to those who are interested in leadership or are in industries dominated by the status-quo and practices that are no longer effective.  Please invite alums, family, and friends you know who might benefit from learning how right-brained problem solving can address the questions of tomorrow.

See you in June!

Yours,

Jesse Moreno '06
