Event Details

Please join Carleton friends, parents and alums for a performance of The Subject Was Roses, winner of the Pulitzer Prize, the NY Drama Critics’ Circle Award and the Tony for Best Play in 1965. This play is a subtle portrait of a family in the wake of WWII. A son who left as a pampered boy returns from the war as a man in his own right. His parents compete for his affection while trying to mask the tension in their marriage. Finally, both mother and father must face the choice between clinging to their child or recognizing the man he’s become. After the play, please join us for dinner at the Common Grill, which is about one block from the theater.

Cost: $30 per ticket for the play (dinner is Dutch treat)

Questions or to reserve your spot, please contact Paul Brindle '71 at 734-332-8980, ext. 106 or pbrindle@vmtsoftware.com by January 24. Payment must be received before January 24. Please be sure to indicate how many will attend the play and how many will join us for dinner.

We hope to see you there.
