Early Bird Breakfast

Currans Restaurant

42nd and Nicollet Ave. South, Minneapolis

Early Bird Breakfasts are held on the second Thursday of each month. Treat yourself to a tasty and inexpensive breakfast, a guest speaker and lively discussions. Reservations are not necessary. The speakers are alumni, family and friends who are doing interesting things in the Twin Cities. Suggestions for speakers are always welcome. Phone or e-mail Brent Nystrom ’92 in the Alumni Affairs Office with your ideas.

April 12, 2007, 7:30 a.m.

Father Kevin McDonough ’77 normally balances his ministerial life on two legs — by day he is the chief operating officer of the Catholic Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis and by night he pastors a predominantly African-American congregation in Saint Paul’s Rondo neighborhood. To gain stability (?), he recently added a third leg, as chaplain to the Minnesota State Senate. McDonough will talk about how two huge institutions — state government and the church — do and do not connect to the emerging urban realities of the Twin Cities.
