Saturday, August 25, 2012
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Come join your fellow Carls for another afternoon at Finnriver, a 33 acre organic family farm and artisan cidery located south of Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula.  Finnriver won the 2012 Edible Seattle Local Heroes award for Beverage Artisan; the farm is certified salmon safe and protected by conservation easements with a local Land Trust.

This year at Finnriver, we'll be hosting Senior Lecturer in Biology, David Hougen-Eitzman.  Enjoy a cider tasting and afternoon picnic on the farm while David shares thoughts about community agriculture and sustainability.

You can either bring your own picnic or you can purchase a variety of local produced foods (bread, cheese etc) at the nearby Chimacum Corner Farmstand.  We'll have a lively conversation with each other and with Crystie Kisler ’92, one of the owners of Finnriver.  The Cidery Tasting Room will also be open for tasting and purchase.  Cider & Wine tasting is $5 per person. Folks can walk the Soil & Salmon Trail around Finnriver, a short interpretive trail about the farm and the riparian restoration.

No smoking and no dogs on the farm.  Children must be supervised at all times.

RSVPs are requested but not required, by August 17.  Contact Kathy Bond ’04.  If you need assistance, contact the Alumni Relations Office at 800-729-2586 or alumni-office@carleton.edu
