The Los Angeles Carleton Club

invites you to a

Tour of Mount Wilson Observatory

Saturday, April 27, 2013
12:45 p.m.

Mount Wilson Observatory

Please join Carleton alumni, parents and friends for a guided tour of the historic Mount Wilson Observatory including access to the floor of the 100-inch telescope.  Meet at the Cosmic Cafe at Mount Wilson at 12:45 p.m.  We will each buy our own tickets for the tour starting at 1 p.m.  The observatory is a 45 minute drive from the beginning of the Angeles Crest Highway in La Cañada.  Those arriving late can take a self guided tour, which does not include access to the floor of the 100-inch telescope.  View this Chapman University blog/video about the observatory.

If anyone is interested in hiking up to the observatory on the old Mount Wilson toll road from Altadena, they may join Dayton Jones '74. He will start from Altadena at 6:30 a.m. in order to arrive in time for the tour.

It may be cold even if the weather is nice down in Los Angeles, so bring a jacket or a sweater.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for ages 7-16 and over 62. Lunch is available at the Cosmic Cafe, or bring your own.

RSVPs are appreciated. Contact Debra Grubb ’79 by April 25.  Please email Dayton Jones ’74 if you are interested in hiking.
