Join fellow Carls for Professor Pierre Hecker’s lecture 'From forth the fatal loins': Everything you

always wanted to know about Romeo and Juliet (but were afraid to ask)."  Following Professor Hecker's lecture, please bring a blanket, lawn chairs and a picnic dinner as we enjoy a free summer performance of "Romeo and Juliet" courtesy of the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival (http://www.sfshakes.org/whats-playing).  We'll also be welcoming incoming students from the Class of 2019! (If that's you, come meet your classmates!)  Prospective students and their parents are also invited.

Pierre Hecker is Associate Professor of English at Carleton College. He teaches courses on the

drama, poetry, and prose of the English Renaissance; the history, theory, and criticism of drama and film; screenwriting; and genre fiction. He is particularly interested in the intersections of literature, visual culture, and performance. He received his M.F.A. in Film from Columbia University and D.Phil. in Renaissance Drama from the University of Oxford. Recent scholarly work includes an investigation of Orson Welles’ 1937 Federal Theater Project production of Doctor Faustus. At Carleton he has served as Director of the London Program as well as Director of the Medieval and Renaissance Studies.

Bring your own picnic dinner to enjoy during the performance of “Romeo and Juliet”.
