Pre-game Tour of Eastern Market & Lafayette Park

 July 16, 2011
11 a.m. - Tour     4:10 p.m. - Game

Please join Carleton alums, parents, friends, and families for a pre-game tour of the Eastern Market and Lafayette Park, hosted by Jim Treece ’75, followed by the Tigers game against the Chicago White Sox!  We have reserved 20 seats for our group.

Itinerary:

· 11:00 - Pre-game tour of Eastern Market & Lafayette Park: Gather at home of Jim ’75 and Kathryn Treece for the 15-minute walk to Eastern Market.  (Note: Dress for the weather; there is very little shade on this walk.) Split up or stay with the group, buy lunch, shop for fresh produce and other goods. (You may leave any Eastern Market purchases at the Treece’s and retrieve them after the game.)

· 1:15 – Everyone gathers in front of R. Hirt Jr., Co, a landmark building across the parking lot from the main drag, Russell Street, for the walk back to Treece’s. (The walk to and from Eastern Market will take us through the Lafayette Park development (designed by noted mid-20th century architect Mies van der Rohe), so that time will double as a walking tour of the architecture and landscaping.)

· 3:00 – Leave Treece’s for 15-minute walk to Comerica Park for the baseball game.

· Option: Skip the pre-game tour and meet the group at the baseball game.

Tickets: $28.00. Jim has purchased 20 tickets for this event. To reserve your place (first-come-first-served), please send Jim a check made out to “Jim Treece.”  Contact Jim with any questions.

The event location and directions were included in the original invitation, and for privacy reasons are not listed here.  If you need assistance, contact the Alumni Relations Office at 800-729-2586 or alumni-office@carleton.edu.
