When Spring Comes: Wildflowers and Climate Change

Carol Trosset '81 will discuss how the timing of spring has been changing. In the 1960s, Carol’s family restored an acre of woodland in Cincinnati, Ohio, and established many species of native wildflowers there. Working with 40 years of data collected by her mother, Carol will discuss how different groups of wildflowers (and a few birds and other animals) have been reacting differently to changes in the local weather.

Trosset’s Carleton studies led to a PhD in cultural anthropology and a career in higher education research. She also has an MA in biology and is a Minnesota Master Naturalist Instructor. She is currently writing a book-length case study of her family’s property based on the data collected by her mother.

No RSVP necessary to attend! And save the date for the next Breakfast Club on April 9th.
