Clambake & Career Center Update

Saturday, October 10, 2009, 6:30 p.m.

Summer Shack

149 Alewife Brook Parkway

Please join us for this fun, casual and informational event hosted by Bill Buffett '55 and the Carleton Careers Alumni Board.

Over the past two years the Career Center has transformed its model from a traditional model of counseling and "four-and-out" to one that focuses on relationships and is community centered.  The goal is to use the talents of alumni, parents and friends of Carleton much, much more than before to help students.  We aim to help students and recent graduates to get into as many rooms as they can, talking with as many friends (old and new) of Carleton as possible, at many different intervals, in as many fields as possible, for varying lengths of time, (hours, days, weeks, months), on and off-campus, around and beyond their academic lives.  We need your help to do this!

Come to this event to enjoy friends from around Boston and to meet new friends from the recently formed Carleton Career Alumni Board, which is helping to guide these new initiatives.  We hope to talk to you about the programs we have put together and to find out how you may be able to help.  Expected attendees from the Board are:  Laura Clise '01, Chuck Donnell '54, Barb Geiser '83, Stuart Grubb '85, Christian Lee '98, Bonnie Melville '92, Jim Slocum ’79, Nicole Vikan '98, Marc Walwyn '89, Andy Wilson '91.

Cost:  Food is covered, cash bar.

Directions:  The Cambridge Summer Shack is located at 149 Alewife Brook Parkway.  If you are coming from Boston and the east, after the Fresh Pond mall, go over the bridge and take your first left. If you are Route 2 and coming into Cambridge from the west, take your first right after the multi-storied parking garage.  Public Transit:  Directly across the street from Alewife T Station, the last stop on the Red Line.

RSVP: Please call the Alumni Affairs Office at 800-729-2586 to reserve your spot.  (Also, please indicate any dietary restrictions when making your reservations.)  We must give a number to the restaurant on Monday, October 5th so please call before noon central time on Monday October 5th.
