Hands On New York Day

Saturday, April 24, 2010, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Please join alums, parents, friends and families as we work with about 5,000 volunteers to make New York City’s parks and gardens cleaner, greener, and ready for summer!  We are assigned to Sternberg Park in Williamsburg to paint fences/benches and help do some gardening.  Volunteers need to sign up online by April 16 (see instructions below).  Be sure to bring your own lunch, water and snacks with you.

There is a $20 fee that helps defray the costs of setting up the event (across the city it costs $500,000 for the day).

To sign up for the Carleton team:

1. Go to  Click on “Register Now!”

2. Select “Join an Existing Team”

3. Select “Carleton College Alumni” and answer the other questions

For more information about Sternberg Park, visit:  The park as within walking distance of the L train at Lorimer Street (2nd stop in Brooklyn).
