You are invited to join a discussion with Carleton Professor Mary Easter who will read from a book she is currently writing. The working title of the book is How I Became a Dancer: a memoir about art, race, feminism and self-hood. Many parts of the book are set in Carleton locations and draw on her experiences as a professor at the college.
Professor Easter is a dancer/choreographer, a poet/writer, and professor of dance at Carleton. She directed the program in African/African-American Studies there for six years. A native of Virginia, Easter has presented her dance work in Minnesota and nationally for over 25 years. She has received numerous fellowships and residencies for her choreography and writing. In 1999 she won a creative non-fiction award from The Loft Literary Center.
The evening will include a potluck dinner, so please bring your favorite main dish, salad, or dessert.
