Desert Hike

The San Diego Carleton Club

Invites you to experience the spectacular wild flowers of the Anza Borrego Desert

We will meet at the same place as last year, at the Yaqui Wells Camping Area (Tamarisk Grove) and will then drive to our wildflower hiking location. It is not possible to know this far in advance just where the best blooms will be found but the heavy rains this past winter have already made for green hillsides and many early flowers. By all accounts the display will be spectacular this year. The park has a flower hotline where the latest information can be found and your organizer will do her best to make the trip worth your while. In past years with heavy rains there have been fields that looked pink from a distance because of the abundance of sand verbena. In addition to these annuals there are many perennial bushes, which should be in bloom and probably many cacti as well. You will have to attend to find out.

During the day we will break for lunch, so please bring something to eat in addition to water, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and sturdy shoes.
