I just learned about Joan's untimely demise yesterday (4 Dec 2020).
I was two years older than Joan, & when she invited me to read one of her freshman Rhetoric essays I was stunned by her diction & clarity of thought & expression. She had natural sensibilities of observation, perception & expression that I was never able to develop in myself. I'll miss her greatly, & I hope the best for her son & daughter.
