He was born December 11, 1946, and graduated from Northfield (MN) Senior High School in 1964. He attended Carleton College [but apparently only freshman year; he lived at home]. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and spent time in Germany during his military tour. Upon completion of his service he married Cynthia Larson. They purchased land in northern Minnesota and built their house in rural Akeley, where they raised their daughter, Selina. He went to school for small engine repair and worked at Johnson Marina in Longville for many years. Tom loved long drives investigating Minnesota, was an avid dog and cat lover, and enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed hiking the Grand Canyon in the winter. He is survived by his wife Cindy of Akeley, daughter Selina of Minneapolis, and sister Katie DeGroot of Northfield.
