Matthew McCrightA Stretch of Blues

Pianist Matthew McCright performs a solo program that pulls, shifts, and stretches the reach of new music through the lenses of Minimalism, West Coast Jazz, Chopin, Ragtime, and the Blues. This concert will feature the newest piano work by Carleton composer, Andrea Mazzariello: As Far As You Can Stretch a Web and the world premiere of a new piece by Mark Dancigers, both commissioned by McCright in 2019, alongside works by Carleton Jazz Coordinator, Laura Caviani; and California's Paul Dresher and Terry Riley.

American pianist Matthew McCright has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and the South Pacific as piano soloist and chamber musician. He has thrilled audiences and critics alike with imaginative programming that places the greatest piano repertoire alongside the music of today’s most innovative composers. A native of Pennsylvania, McCright now resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is a member of the piano faculty of Carleton College. An accomplished recording artist, McCright has released five solo recordings on innova, Centaur, and Albany Records. He is represented by Proper Canary Artist Services.
