Hanif Abdurraqib: American Lyric and the Politics of Genre
Tue, May 15, 2018
• 5:00pm
- 6:00pm (1h) • Gould Library Athenaeum
Hanif Abdurraqib will read from his two most recent books: The Crown Ain't Worth Much (Button Poetry, 2016) and They Can't Kill Us Until They Kill Us (Two Dollar Radio, 2017). The first is a collection of poems that Terrance Hayes says are steeped with a combination of 'communal soul, rhythmic soul, and spiritual soul.' The second is a collection of essays touching on music, mortality, resilience, and black life in America.
