Mon, January 8, 2018 • 7:00pm - 9:00pm (2h) • Weitz Cinema

Delicate Balance (2016) by Guillermo García López

Presenter: Christopher Chiappari, Professor of Anthropology at St. Olaf College

Theme: Signs of Civilizatory Crisis

Delicate Balance, a full-length documentary, is universal. It is about issues that affect and change us all. Through three stories that span three continents and the weaving thread of messages brought to us by the Uruguayan President, José ‘Pepe’ Mujica, we see ourselves reflected in the lives of African Migrants, Spanish Workers, and Japanese Salarymen, and realize that, in the end, we strive for many of the same things. We love. We want. We struggle. We grow.

Round Table: facilitated by Carleton professors Noboru Tomonari, Associate Professor of Asian Languages and Literature; Cherif Keita, Professor of French and Francophone Studies; Claudia Lange, Visiting Instructor of Spanish; Mar Valdecanots, writer, artist, translator, community organizer and member of the Northfield Human Rights Commission
