We’ve just arrived back here at West Gym following the Knights’ heart-breaking 59-58 loss to UW-Stevens Point last night in the NCAA Tournament’s first round. There’s been a lot of discussion about the final play, where Jeremy Sutherland collided with his defender trying to drive to the basket for a potential game-winning shot. After watching the video this morning, there’s no doubt it was a collision, as both players hit the floor, with the ball popping out and the Pointers’ Jerrel Harris coming up with the ball with two seconds left and running out the clock.

A moment that was hard to imagine a mere six or seven weeks ago is almost here, as Carleton is about five hours away from the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. We give you a look inside the final preparations the Knights are making to face fifth-ranked and host UW-Stevens Point.

We snapped a few photos of Thursday's practice, as the Knights staged a spirited 90-minute workout on Dick Bennett Court at UW-Stevens Point's Quandt Fieldhouse, the site of the Knights' opening-round NCAA Tournament game with the host Pointers.

We were able to catch up with Carleton head coach Guy Kalland for a quick interview about 24 hours before his Knights take on fifth-ranked UW-Stevens Point in the NCAA Tournament's first round. Coach Kalland talked about the challenges the Pointers present and how his team has prepared and re-focused following their thrilling MIAC Playoff Championship overtime thriller with Gustavus Adolphus College.
