Knights Scorched by Blazers’ Hot Shooting

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Three players finished in double figures for the Knights, but the Carleton College women’s basketball team could not match the scoring pace of host Saint Benedict as the Blazers shot 57 percent in the contest and prevailed 88-52.

Carleton (1-4, 0-2 MIAC) trailed just 27-25 with 5:14 remaining in the second quarter, but the Knights came up empty on their final eight possessions of the half, permitting permit the Blazers (6-0, 2-0 MIAC) to assemble a 16-0 run and grab control of the contest.

Katie Chavez (Fy./Westminster, Colo./Holy Family) paced the Knights with 13 points, while Sarah Waldfogel (Jr./Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) added 12 points, and Katherine Miles (Jr./Park Ridge, Ill/Maine So.) chipped in a career-high 11 points off the bench.

Saint Benedict’s Niki Fokken led all scorers with a career-best 25 points, and teammate Chelsey Guetter added a career-high 18-point effort as the duo went a combined 17-of-21 from the field.
