CLERMONT, Fla. – The Carleton College softball team picked up two more victories on Sunday, defeating both UW-River Falls and Lewis & Clark College by identical 7-2 scores. The Knights improved to 10-2 on the season.

"Two really solid, complete games today," said Carleton head coach Amy Erickson. "We did a good job of executing our offensive game plan and played some really heads up defense.

The Knights trailed 2-0 heading into the top of the fourth inning before a two-out rally pushed Carleton in front. Anna Lauko (Sr./Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay) followed Maris Daleo’s (So./Stillman Valley, Ill./Stillman Valley) run-scoring single with a two-run double.

Lauko added another two-run double in the sixth inning and scored on Natalie Maurice’s (Jr./Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) second hit of the contest.

Michaela Jellsey (Fy./Yuba City, Calif./Yuba City) went 2-for-3 and plated an insurance run with her ground out in the top of the seventh.

Sam Kile (Sr./Elk Grove, Calif./Consumnes Oaks) went the distance and improved to 7-1 on the season, tying her for most victories this season by MIAC pitchers. The calendar has not even flipped to April, and already Kile has surpassed last season’s win total. She permitted two runs on nine hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

Carleton took advantage of Lewis & Clark fielding miscues to snap a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning. The Knights pushed across three runs in the frame and added two more in the fifth inning.

Sarah Ogle (Sr./San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School) earned her first victory of the season, yielding only four hits with two walks and three strikeouts while tossing her seventh career complete game.

Mo McConnell (Jr./Merion Sta, Pa./Lower Merion) scored three runs, Lauko paced the offense with two more hits, and Daleo chipped in two RBI.

"Sam (Kile) continues to give us quality starts, and Sarah (Ogle) had her best outing of the season so far," said Erickson.

Carleton is off on Monday and will face University of Chicago (11:45 a.m. EDT) and The College of New Rochelle (2:00 p.m. ET) on Tuesday, March 26.
