TUCSON, Ariz. – Brendon Fischel (Sr./Eureka, Calif./Eureka) belted a pinch-hit 3-run home run that helped the Carleton College baseball team grab a 4-1 lead, but the Knights were unable to hold the advantage and dropped a 7-4 result to Concordia University Wisconsin.

Fischel’s first career dinger came with two out in the top of the fifth inning. Carleton would add another run later in the inning, but the Falcons (4-8) strung together six hits and a walk in the bottom of the stanza and scored five times to move back in front for good.

Matt Rubin (Sr./Hawthorne, N.Y./Westlake) and Keenan Moore (Jr./Minneapolis, Minn./De La Salle) had two hits apiece to pace Carleton. Infielders Josh Small (Jr./Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley), Jacob Small (Fy./Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley), and Paul Hinton (Fy./Omaha, Neb./Millard Prep) collected the other base hits for the Knights.

Wilson Battle (Jr./Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline Senior) matched his career high with 6.0 innings of mound work. He escaped a bases-loaded, none out jam in the second and was cruising until the fifth. That frame robbed him of a chance at his first career victory.

Carleton will faced Oberlin College for a doubleheader beginning at 10:00 a.m. MST/12:00 p.m. CDT on Monday, March 25.
