GREENWOOD, Ind. – Just days after earning All-America accolades at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Tris Dodge (Sr./Oakland, Calif./College Prep) was named by CoSIDA to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country First Team. The honor recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Dodge took 8th place in the 10,000-meter run in 30:59.36 at last week’s national championship meet to secure an All-America award, the first of his career. In addition, he turned in two all-conference performances at the 2019 MIAC Outdoor Championships (5000m, 10,000m) and collected another all-conference award and an honorable mention nod at the 2019 MIAC Indoor Championships (5000m, 3000m).

During the cross country season, Dodge was the runner-up at the conference meet (All-MIAC) and the individual champion at the NCAA Central Region Championships (All-Region), leading the Knights to a berth in the NCAA Division III Championships.

The senior biology major has excelled on the academic side as well, maintaining a 3.95 GPA over his four years at Carleton. This marks the second time he has earned a spot on the team (2018).

A total of 12 student-athletes earned spots on the Academic All-District Men’s First Team for the NCAA Division III’s District 6, which encompasses schools in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in June.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a key contributor at the varsity level, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution, and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
