ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Carleton College baseball team dropped both ends of the season-ending doubleheader against Hamline University, falling 2-1 and 5-1. These contests were played at CHS Field in downtown St. Paul.

The Knights out-hit the Pipers, 9-3, but hit into three double plays and came up short on the scoreboard in their sixth one-run game of the campaign.

Griffin Bolte (Sr./Portland, Ore./Lincoln) paced Carleton with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate and scored the Knights’ lone run. Wilson Battle (So./Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline Senior) added a 2-for-3 stat line with a double

Tyler Rolland (Sr./Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley) tossed a three-hit complete game but still absorbed the tough-luck loss.

Carleton stranded five runners in scoring position, including the bases loaded in the first inning. The Knights did themselves no favors by grounding into three more inning-ending double plays.

Battle and Josh Small (So./Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) had two-hit games, while Bolte was 1-for-3 and once again scored Carleton’s only run.

Hamline opened the bottom of the first with four consecutive singles, leading to two runs. The hosts tacked on single insurance tallies in the second, fourth, and fifth innings.
