ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Carleton College baseball team got an in-person look at one of the best pitching staffs in the country, and the Knights did not like what they saw. Bethel University entered the day with a 2.94 team ERA, ranking 10th in NCAA Division III, and the Royals added two more shutouts to their ledger with wins by scores of 8-0 and 6-0.

Carleton (8-16, 1-7 MIAC) was limited to six hits on the day with six different players—including five rookies—collecting the base knocks. Bethel has now yielded two runs or less in 17 of its 28 games this season.

In the opener, Sean Kelly (Sr./Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) took the loss but tossed his first career complete game, helping absorb some innings for a Knights pitching staff that plays four doubleheaders in a nine-day span. Wilson Battle (Fy./Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline Senior) got the starting nod on the mound for the nightcap and yielded three runs to a Royals squad that paces the MIAC in runs per game.

UP NEXT FOR THE KNIGHTS: Carleton is slated to visit Concordia College for a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday, April 19.
