BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – On the heels of a career-best performance, Carleton College quarterback Christian Zaytoun (Raleigh, N.C./Woodberry Forest) was tabbed as the MIAC’s Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week. The junior totaled 459 passing yards and accounted for four touchdowns against Lake Forest College.

Zaytoun completed 34-of-53 passes and his yardage total was the fourth highest in school history and the sixth best in Division III this season. He opened the day with a one-yard touchdown run and added a 34-yard touchdown toss shortly before halftime.

Zaytoun was at his best down the stretch. With Carleton trailing 48-34 late in the fourth quarter, he threw two touchdown passes in final 80 seconds of the game. After tossing an 18-yarder to Emanual Williams (So./Lovelady, Texas/Lovelady) with 1:19 to go, the defense got the Knights the ball back for one last drive that covered 78 yards in only 28 seconds, including 30-yard touchdown from Zaytoun to Dane Birkeland (Sr./Minneapolis, Minn./Minnehaha Academy) as clock hit 00:00. Unfortunately, the potential game-tying two-point conversion was caught but ruled to be out of bounds.

Zaytoun ranks second among MIAC signal callers this season in passing yards per game (303.5) and touchdown passes (six). He is the first Knight to be selected as the conference’s offensive player-of-the-week since Anthony Kemper earned the honor for the final week of the 2013 campaign.
